HONG KONG (2019) – Kurinh Btrnmin Kasmadi, 34, has been working as a domestic helper in Hong Kong for five years in the hope that she can buy a plot of land and open her own restaurant in Indonesia.
Previously she worked in the Middle East, where she had a bad experience. Kurinh said she was sent to jail for one month after she ran away from her employer.
“It’s really, really hard,” Kurinh said about the experience. “You can’t imagine.”
She said she now enjoys her life in Hong Kong and is grateful to her employer.
“We are like friends, and she's helping me a lot,” Kurinh said.
