HONG KONG (2019) – Wanting a break from her monotonous housewife life in the Philippines, 47-year-old Veronica Zapata decided to come to Hong Kong nine years ago to work as a domestic helper.
Veronica, a wife and a mother of a 13-year-old girl, previously worked in Singapore and later relocated to Hong Kong to work for a local family with two kids. During her time in Hong Kong, Veronica said she found the meaning of life through religion. As a Christian, she spends her only free day - Sunday - attending the church.
Veronica said she returns home once a year and uses her savings to share with her family and local churches.
